Hi, Zhenyu,

The Fermi Lab eta proposal is currently under development and is planned to be submitted in 2018. According to the speaker, they will build a new beam line and new experiment Hall if this proposal is approved. Their main physics goals overlap with the JEF project. Since they will produce eta with 2 GeV proton beam, their production rate will be higher than Jlab. On the hand, I would expect their backgrounds to be much higher as well due to hadronic production and low energy eta's in the lab frame. They still in process of simulating the background. They have also done several beam test for prototype detectors.

There is growing interest for the physics community on the rare eta decay physics. If Fermi Lab proposal is approved, we will certainly face competition. On the other hand, we may still be complementing to each other in different decay channels.

Simon may answer your question regarding to voice communication using Skype for the JEF meeting.

Liping

Hi, all,

Sorry for missing for two months after I went back to China. There were so many things happened that I was a little exhausted.

I tried to join the JEF meeting last night but failed because the bluejeans cannot be connected at my home. It seems can only be connected using the web in the university. It's usually too late for me to stay at office to connect a meeting. Is it possible to add a accessory voice communication using Skype for the JEF meeting?

I read the slides of Fermi Lab eta experiment on Yesterday's JEF meeting. Do they begin to build a new detector to do the eta experiment at Fermi Lab? Do you know their timetable? Their motivations look similar to some of ours. Do you have any comments for it?

Best wishes,
Jane
