HI, Bill,
I agree with you that we should make sure that students "have an appreciation as to why the detector they are assisting in building is important to the physics community" at Friday JEF meeting. It may currently take a longer portion of meeting time during the detector development and installation period. Any progress on the data analysis and simulations and any important decisions related to the JEF physics will be discussed at the JEF meeting as well.
In order to help graduate students and posdoc's opportunities for more detailed discussions on data analysis, I think that an informal analysis meeting focusing on graduate students and postdocs proposed by Susan would be helpful. PrimEx-eta has a similar structure. We have an official PrimEx-eta meeting on Friday for main decisions and discussions, and an informal meeting for graduate students and postdocs on Tuesday for more detail and technical discussions on data analysis.
Best
Liping

Hi Liping
I think that, especially while the students are here and on line at the Friday Meetings, we should make sure they have an appreciation as to why the detector they are assisting in building is important to the physics community. More and more we are cutting off the discussion after the progress report.

Hi, Bill,
The regular JEF meeting always includes physics talks. It had more hardware talks recently because of ongoing hardware development. We will be dominating by data analysis and simulations soon.

Hi All,
While I like the idea of specialized meetings, I think that we can also return to including some physics topics back into the Friday Meetings in addition to the equipment reports.

Hi, all,
I would like to clarify that the informal light meson decay meeting is for additional discussion on data analysis focusing on graduates and postdoctoral fellows. All topics related to JEF will still be presented at the regular JEF meeting.
Cheers

Tuesdays and Thursdays OK, if it ends before 11:00.
Mondays we have another GW meeting between 9:30 and 10:00 every week.

Dear JEF-ers, dear Olga and dear Saheli,
I discussed with Simon and we are starting an informal working group on analysis for Light Meson Decays. Right now we can already discuss ongoing GlueX data analyses in view of JEF as well as the simulation efforts for JEF. This meeting will be in addition to the weekly JEF meeting.
Would the interested among you indicate what are possible meeting times for you? I would have the requirement that meetings are finished by 12pm.
Thx,
Su.
