2013 will be remembered as a rainy one for some, and a long one for others. The league was reduced to 7 teams in 2013 due to the amount of players committing to play. That resulted in a few bye weeks in a 21 week regular season, with the top 6 teams in the final standings making the playoffs. The teams were formed by players handicap, and seemed to be accepted by the majority. A problem did occur for a couple of teams when each lost a low handicapper right before the season started. Teams 2 and 4 ended up at the top in the final standings, and both earned a first round bye for the playoffs.

In the 1st Round of the playoffs, Match 1 was between Teams 3 and 5. Team 5 scored 65 points and got the 12 bonus points for having the low team net resulting in a 77 to 23 victory. In Match 2, Teams 6 and 7 battled to a 44 all tie, but Team 6 won team net by 1 stroke, giving them the 12 bonus points. Not the way you want to lose, but each stroke counts.

In the 2nd Round, the team net was decided by one stroke in both matches. Team 2 outscored Team 5 46-42, but got the 12 bonus points for a 58-42 victory, and Team 4 outlasted Team 6 45-43 and received the 12 bonus points for a 57-43 win. That's 3 of 4 matches within a couple of strokes of changing those outcomes. That's tough golf!

In the Final, The top 2 teams of the regular season tee'd off for the championship. In the end, Team 2 (led by Phil Adderley's 44) slipped past Team 4 48-40, and took team net by 6 strokes for a 60-40 win. Congrats to Team 2.

With 2013 over and 2014 fast approaching, it's a good time to get feedback from all of you about last season, and what you would like for seasons to come. With Mike Zarecky stepping down after many years of service to the Golf League, I would like to get any and all comments, ideas, and suggestions everyone might have, so I can put together a presentation before the February/March meeting.
