Well, it only took 6 weeks to get 3 weeks worth of matches in. Hopefully this isn't the trend for the rest of the season. This past Monday, NNGC decided to work on the Cardinal course before the Holiday instead of after, which had everyone bunched up on the Deer Run course. Next Monday (5/19), everyone will be playing their matches on the Cardinal course. We will have the same tee-times (4-4:45), so keep that in mind. It was a good day for golf, although the scores suggest having 3 weeks off was too long for most. There were a couple of good battles with some 1 seeds. In the 1st match, Joe Thomas(45) had to survive a late par-fest and use his 2 freebie's to get by Chris Dreyfuss(45) 12-10, but the rest of Team 6 stepped up and gave Team 5 their 3rd loss. In the other match, Keith Blackburn(49) added 3 pars to the +5 strokes he got from John Leckey(47) to gain a 14-8 win, but wins from Mark Wiseman(42), and Kelly Tremblay helped Team 1 hand Team 2 their first loss. Mark bounced back from a 54 and took out his frustrations against Doug, knocking down 4 pars and a birdie. Kelly Dixon(43) got a couple of pars and a birdie to lead Team 4(3-0) past Team 3(0-3) to stay undefeated. Because of the scheduled work being done at the course, there will be no open slots available on 5/19. If anyone would like to play before 4 or after 4:45, they will need to call for tee-times. The last group this past Monday was able to finish before it got dark. A couple of important issues have come up. One, everyone must check-in with the starter before heading out to the tee box. They will be comparing how many have paid against how many check in. I send them the lineups on Monday after 1 PM, so they know who should be there. Two, everyone that has played, should have already paid their 2014 dues. Even though it's an unwritten rule, it's an understood rule. Pay before you play is all the league has asked. Phil and I will get together this week to check the books. Some members earned discounts from the "Kick-Off" event which will also get looked at. An email will be sent to those (if any) that's in default. Team captains will be notified if necessary. Okay, we still have a lot of golf left, and hopefully we can get a couple of special events in. The Mid-Season Event (6/14) is 4 weeks away, so try to make that. And last, Monday's lineups are due tomorrow if not already turned in.
