In addition:

Please silence all cell phones on the course!

Better yet, leave your phone in the car.

All - I am sure most of you are aware of these, but here is a simple reminder on a couple of the rules.

Let's hope the weather holds tonight and Hit em well.

1. Score Cards - Each player is responsible for making sure his or hers score is correct on the score card turned into the league
scorer. Players are asked to please check the score card before leaving the course and if multiple score cards are kept they should be
compared for agreement. It is best to make sure the score on each hole is known by all and agreed too after each hole. Any disagreements
should be resolved prior to the next hole if possible. If an incorrect score is posted players are first encouraged to settle the
difference with their opponent and let the league scorer know the agreed upon score. If agreement cannot be reached between the players, it
then goes to the team captains, and then to the Rules Committee to resolve the difference (JLab rules). Note that "signing" an incorrect
card can lead to additional penalty points being applied or even disqualification (USGA Rule 6-6 Scoring in Stroke Play).

2. The "Gimmie" - Jefferson Lab golf rules allow a player to concede his (or hers) opponent's next stroke at any time, provided the
ball is at rest. This is part of Match play and covered in the rules of golf (USGA Rule 2- Match Play). Not conceding a putt can be used as
strategy and can been seen as a way to get into an opponents head. Conceding a putt acknowledges your opponents skill and is also a way of
speeding up play, which will improve the enjoyment of all. A rule of thumb for this is "in the grip", though not all putters are created
equal. So pay attention to where your opponents ball comes to rest and if it is your intent, please let them know that the next stroke is a
"gimmie" in a timely fashion. Conversely, do not assume your putt is good until it is given by your opponent. Your opponent may well require
you to make every one of them.

"Pick it up. You ain't playing for the Claret Jug."

Golfers,

The matches for next week's matches are posted. Naturally someone will drop out and subs will be plugged in so please double check to see who you are playing before the match on Monday. Captains, please let me know about any changes as soon as you can......thanks.

Additionally, the League Schedule has been corrected on the website, thanks to Kelly.

regards,

Tom
