Jefferson Lab's scientific computing systems for experimental physics
will be unavailable starting on Tuesday afternoon June 21 for the lab's
scheduled power load reduction test, and will remain unavailable through
Wednesday afternoon. During the scheduled outage, we will take the
opportunity to perform system maintenance tasks, and relocate systems
within the computing facility.
Additionally, Infiniband networking and Lustre file system support will
be added to the data analysis cluster and interactive systems. This
upgrade will pave the way for improving I/O capabilities over the
currently supported NFS file services using Ethernet. Details regarding
the IB and Lustre changes, including accessing a new /volatile
filesystem and support for /cache using Lustre, will be forthcoming.
Also, the ifarml64 interactive systems will undergo system changes. The
current ifarml1 and ifarml6 8-core Nehalem systems will be relocated to
the analysis cluster and replaced with a second 32-core AMD server
ifarm1102, like the current ifarm1101.
