Subject: JLab Electricity Reduction Action: 4-10pm Today

Jefferson Lab has been notified by Virginia Dominion Power to reduce its electricity usage from 4-10 p.m. today (July 17) as part of an electric load reduction effort.

The general JLab procedure for this electricity-use reduction event is to power down identified, non-critical equipment and turn off unnecessary appliances and lights. Designated staff should begin securing designated loads. All unnecessary loads should be turned off and secured no later than 3:50 p.m.

Facilities Management and Logistics staff is coordinating with various work centers to meet the electricity-use reduction request. FM&L staff will be in early Wednesday morning to have most systems back online by 8 a.m.

DO NOT start or run any intensive electricity-consuming operations until AFTER 10 p.m. tonight.

Questions may be directed to Paul Powers, x7258; or to Bob Sperlazza, x6241; or FM&L admin., x7400.

For more information about this effort, see the June 11, 2012 All Staff Memo: http://www.jlab.org/memo/2012_Electrical_Load_Reduction.html

This message is being sent on behalf of JLab management and Facilities Management and Logistics.
