JLab Scientific Computing and HPC Users,
During the scheduled IT maintenance on Tuesday, JLab's ENP data analysis (i)farm and mass storage systems will also be unavailable, as they rely on the central network and file services undergoing maintenance.
In addition, the globus.jlab.org offsite data transfer server will be unavailable for software updates, starting at 3pm Tuesday.
As the systems resume, they will run with an updated Lustre 2 filesystem client, and will use centos65 as the default farm job tag.
Please contact the IT Division Helpdesk at helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155 for further information.
Regards,
Sandy

IT Systems Maintenance Day Set for Tuesday , Sept. 15, 5-10 p.m.
The IT Division is planning a maintenance period for 5-10 p.m. on Tuesday , Sept. 15. During this time, there will be a 15-20 minute network outage to all central services starting at around 5:30 p.m. During this outage, access to all central file servers (J, K, L and M drives), web servers, mail servers, etc., will be unavailable. All incoming email will be queued and delivered once the networks come back online. There will also be updates to various Common User Environment web servers during this time. Each web server outage will last no more than 30 minutes, though, and all web servers will be up and available by 10 p.m.
In addition, there will be several software updates and patches to CUE-managed computer operating systems. The default version of Mathematica on CUE will be updated to 10.2, and the default version of Maple will be updated to Maple 2015. Older versions will still be available via the CUE "use" command once the new versions are made the default. Java 1.8.x will be installed on all CUE-managed Windows desktops and servers, and Java 1.7 will be removed, as it is no longer supported and has several documented insecurities. Finally, updates to CUE-managed software, such as Firefox, will be released to all Windows Desktops, and patches for Windows and Linux will be released, as well. Plan on rebooting your system to finalize patch installation when requested, but no later than Friday , Sept. 18. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the IT Division Helpdesk at helpdesk at jlab.org or x7155.
