Dear Users,
Physics' new farm16 nodes are now available for computing -- 44 nodes of dual 18-core Broadwell Xeons at 2.3 GHz, with 64 GB RAM, 1 TB disk, and QDR Infiniband, running CentOS 7.2. They are accessible via the ifarm1402.jlab.org interactive node, and "OS: centos7" tag in batch job submission scripts, with 72 threads each. This upgrade provides an additional 1584 cores, 3168 threads, to the batch farm. The 24 2010 dual 4 core 2.4 GHz Nehalem Xeon farm nodes (192 cores) are being retired.
Also, the new Lustre disk server, with 40 * 8 TB disks, is in production, adding ~200 TB at 80% full. The oldest 30 * 2 TB disk servers from 2011 are being retired at the same time.
Please send feedback, questions, insights to philpott at jlab.org, helpdesk at jlab.org, or to your Hall's computing coordinator.
Regards,
Sandy
