Hello, everyone:
There will be a Computing Round Table on Wednesday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m. (EDT). Katie Antypas (Berkely Lab, NERSC) is visiting Jefferson Lab and will discuss the NERSC-9 architecture, software, and features to support large-scale data analysis as well as remaining challenges in supporting new and emerging workloads from DOE’s experimental facilities:
NERSC is the DOE Office of Science Mission HPC facility. A growing part of NERSC's workload is data analysis from experimental facilities such as light sources, detectors, telescopes and sequencers. The NERSC-9 High Performance Computing System named after Nobel Laureate Saul Perlmutter will provide a 3-4x increase in capability for NERSC users over existing systems when it is delivered in 2020 and was designed to support both large scale simulations as well as data analysis from DOE's experimental facilities. The system features both CPU and GPU cabinets as well as 30PBs of an all-flash Lustre file system, the Cray Slingshot interconnect, a scalable data analysis and machine learning software stack, and a robust application readiness effort for simulation, learning and data applications.
At Jefferson Lab we will meet in F324-325. For remote participation, we will use BlueJeans (ID: 373678588). You can join via browser:
