I happened to see this in the recent JLab Weekly and thought I would
highlight it here:

  On Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8 a.m.-noon, the Virtual Desktop
  Infrastructure (VDI) servers will be upgraded to new versions.
  Access to VDI desktops, whether Windows or Linux, will be offline
  during the outage. Any existing desktop connections will also be
  terminated during the outage. The Computing and Networking
  Infrastructure team will have all servers and access to VDI desktops
  restored no later than noon. If you have any questions or concerns
