Happy Friday Eve again-

scifs2102 has no longer been crashing, but the episodic unresponsiveness that used to precede crashes remains.  Red Hat have some tweaks, one of which requires rebooting, which I intend to do on the upcoming CST maintenance day, Tuesday, August 20th.

The usual expectation and questions/concerns to SNow as in the messages below.  Thanks!

scifs2102 was back on the agenda because we've been working with Red Hat on a recent series of crashes, and Tuesday's work went longer than expected because the fix kernel they gave me would hang while booting (and because I did not prepare properly for that possibility).  They've given me a new kernel, which I intend to install (and reboot into) next Tuesday, July 23rd.

Hopefully now that specific attention has been given to the boot issue, you may again expect half-an-hour of downtime, sometime during the workday on Tuesday.  Please file a ServiceNow Incident at https://jlab.servicenowservices.com/scicomp with any questions or concerns.  Thank you!

During the upcoming CST maintenance day, Tuesday, July 16th,
we intend to update the software on (and reboot)

  scigw20b, the secondary NFS gateway for the Farm's
            Lustre (/cache and /volatile) filesystem;
  scifs2101, the host of /work/halld;
  scifs2102, the host of /work/hall[abc], clas*, cebaf24gev,
             indra-astra, and proposals; and
  scifs2103, the host of /work/eic2.

We expect half-an-hour of downtime for each, sometime during
the workday on Tuesday.  Please file a ServiceNow Incident at
