JLab Scientific Computing Maintenance Day Announcement
We would like to inform you that a scheduled maintenance will take place on January 21st, 2025 to upgrade all farm systems to AlmaLinux 9.5[1]. During this maintenance window, there will be also be a brief database outage, which will result in a temporary web server outage.
Farm/iFarm Patching:

  *
Impact:
     *   Minor Patch release 9.5: patches and reboots to be applied as needed[1].
     *   Default gcc will be 11.5 (previously 11.4).
     *   Changelog: https://wiki.almalinux.org/release-notes/9.5.html#changelog

Database Upgrades:

Impact:
     *
Temporary downtime: swif/jasmine/webservers during the brief database outage.
     *   Services will be restored promptly once the upgrade is completed.

code.jlab.org Patching:

Impact:
     *
Temporary downtime.
     *   Services will be restored promptly once the upgrade is completed.

We expect the outage to be brief and will work diligently to minimize downtime. Please plan accordingly and reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

[1] To combat issues relating to crashes in the IPoIB stack, farm[1901-1959] have already been patched.
