****A problem of "hit-to-track" association for track reconstruction in 
particle physics experiments is considered. It is shown that a Bayesian 
solution results in a special extension of a standard Kalman filter - 
the so-called Probabilistic Data Association Filter (PDAF). Examples of 
the PDAF applications for various detector technologies are given. 
Practical issues relating to the PDAF implementation are discussed.
