Open Heavy flavor measurements with the STAR experiment at RHIC
Abstract:
Heavy favor particles have been suggested as an excellent probe to study properties of the Quark-Gluon Plasma, a new state of matter discovered in ultra relativistic heavy-ion collisions. In this talk, we will present recent results on open heavy flavor production, obtained with a new Silicon vertex detector at the STAR experiment at RHIC. These results are compared to those from the LHC experiments and to theoretical calculations, and their physics implications are discussed.
