ACCELERATOR SEMINAR 

High Intensity Negative Ion Beam Neutralization

One of the main limits in the generation of intense ion beams like the one in the EIC is the space charge force, to overcome this limit the space charge force can be compensated by positive ions created by collision of the beam with the neutral gas in the beam pipe. The density of neutral gas may vary the amount of compensation and the resulting ion beam dynamics. We present results for the transport of a 45 keV H- ion beam in the CERN Linac4 together with simulations. The H- beam is provided by a cesiated 2MHz RF ion source with an external solenoid antenna.
