New Insight of the Drell-Yan Angular Distributions 





Abstract: 



High precision data of dilepton angular distributions in Drell-Yan and 
Z-boson production have revealed a large violation of the Lam-Tung relation. 
Using an intuitive approach we show that the violation of the Lam-Tung 
relation, as well as the kinematic dependencies of the angular distributions 
coefficents, can be well understood. Implication of this work on other hard 
processes and on the extraction of the Boer-Mulders function will also be 
discussed .
