<b><font color="#3333ff">"First Results from Heavy-Ion Collisions at
the LHC"</font></b>

At the end of 2010, following the completion of a successful year of
proton-proton collisions, the first heavy ion beams were accelerated
and collided in the LHC, starting on November 4. Collision data were
taken in three of the LHC experiments: ATLAS, CMS, and ALICE. As of
December 24, four physics papers had already been submitted for
publication, and a number of other public results have been released.
In this seminar I will briefly introduce the LHC and its detectors,
indicate the properties of its heavy ion beam, and show the public
physics results from these three detectors, with a particular emphasis
on the results from ATLAS.<br>
