After a brief mention of the rich and diversified physics measurements which have already been performed or are being planned, the talk will focus on the variety of physics results which have been obtained in the domain of the recently introduced transverse momentum dependent (TMD) parton distribution functions by semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scattering (SIDIS) of 160 GeV muons off transversely polarized proton and deuteron targets.
