<div>It was a pleasure to see many of you in Frascati last week for the second in the series of workshops to the develop the scientific case for the 22 GeV upgrade. INDICO page for the workshop</a>. We had about 90 people in person for the workshop, and this created many opportunities for productive discussion.</div>

<div>Many of you have asked about the next steps. Our community needs to continue to develop and refine the scientific case for the 22 GeV upgrade. In parallel with this, our accelerator colleagues continue a program of R&D to examine feasibility and reduce
technical risk associated with the accelerator design. Finally, the lab management, with input from the user community, must develop a strategy to pursue the upgrade as an official DOE project.</div>

<div>A group that has representation from theory, experiment, accelerator, the user community, and management will continue to meet on a monthly basis to discuss strategy for both the positron and 22 GeV initiatives. An action item for this group is to discuss
the optimal way to continue to develop the scientific case through discussions and workshops. The user representatives in this group are John Arrington, Axel Schmidt, and myself (MS). All of us would welcome input from the community.</div>

<div>For the energy upgrade, the tentative goal is to again bring together the members of community that are developing the science case for another workshop on the time scale of a year or so. We want to sustain the momentum and activity, but realize also
that many of you need time to work on 22 GeV related studies in parallel with publishing 12 GeV research, which must have priority. Therefore we will take a little time to define the optimal strategy for restarting the “Open Discussion” series again in preparation
for the next workshop, if not sooner.</div>

<div>Thanks to all who contributed to these biweekly meetings -- it was helpful to have them to set the stage for last week's workshop. They also allowed for lengthy discussion that is just not possible to have during the Q&A session of a talk at the workshop.</div>
