to explore the world-class research being conducted at the lab, to
talk with staff and scientists, and to visit some of the lab’s unique
research, technology development and support areas. Learn about
particle accelerators and detectors, nuclear physics research,
supercomputers and more. The event will include exhibits,
demonstrations, lectures, tours and hands-on activities for all ages.
The event will take place, rain or shine, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m on
Saturday, May 17. No admittance after 2 p.m. No admission fee and
free parking. Enter at Hogan Drive and Jefferson Avenue in Newport
News (12000 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, Va. 23606).
Cameras and photography are welcome. The event will be spread out over
a loop of about two miles and will involve walking on pavement, stairs
and inclined truck ramps. Wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen. Free
shuttle buses will be available to carry visitors between most tour
stops. Bring cash for refreshments; vendors will be selling food and
