         "Studying the Electromagnetic Form Factors of the Proton at JLab"

Abstract:
The electromagnetic form factors of the proton are fundamental quantities defined in the context of
one-photon exchange. Many experiments at Jefferson Lab are dedicated to extracting information about
these form factors. This talk will discuss the 6 GeV JLab elastic cross section and recoil polarization
experiments, as well as the GMp experiment which is currently running in Hall A. The GMp
experiment will make a precision measurement of the proton elastic cross section at high Q2; indeed, it
has already taken some data at a Q2 of 12.65 GeV2. Lastly, I will consider recent attempts to understand
the apparent discrepancy between the cross section and recoil polarization results.
