Dear colleagues,
Applications will open in a few days for:
HUGS 2023<https://www.jlab.org/conference/hugs2023>
The 38th annual Hampton University
Graduate Summer program at Jefferson Lab
May 30 – June 16, 2023
This year HUGS is once again in person, with a hybrid component for students who cannot physically travel to Jefferson Lab. The deadline for applications (and reference letters) is March 8, 2023.
The HUGS Program at Jefferson Lab is a summer school designed for nuclear and particle physics graduate students who have finished their coursework and have at least one year of research experience. Students who are well into a research project are also encouraged to apply.
The program is simultaneously intensive, friendly, and casual. All lecturers are internationally renowned and leaders in their fields. In-person students will be housed on site at Jefferson Lab, and there will be many opportunities to interact with the lecturers, as well as Jefferson Lab staff, other graduate students, and visitors. Hybrid students will be able to attend the main lectures remotely, and interact asynchronously with the speakers and all the participants through Slack. The school will close with a live student seminar session and a virtual poster session.
Acceptance into the program is competitive, and a limited number of scholarships for in-person attendance are available through grant support by the United States Department of Energy. Additional support for students from developing countries is available through a dedicated JSA/HUGS fellowship sponsored by Jefferson Science Associates.
Please see [goog_2024571036]https://www.jlab.org/conference/hugs2023 for details and application, and feel free to share this announcement with interested students and colleagues.
This year, as a special treat, HUGS will be immediately followed by a 2-weeks long Quantum Computing Boot Camp<https://www.jlab.org/conference/QCBC23>: buy 1 ticket, get 2 schools! Support is available from the Boot Camp's organizers.
Best regards,
Alberto Accardi (director)
