                            "Machine learning for real-time flooding decision support"

Abstract:


The presentation covers various aspects of the project, including the supervised

training of ML models, the comparison of different ML surrogate models, and

the incorporation of uncertainty quantification. Key highlights include using

Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) models for flood prediction, integrating

physics-informed hydrodynamic models, and developing a deep quantile

regression framework for uncertainty-aware predictions. The research

demonstrates the potential of ML models to provide accurate and timely flood

predictions, significantly reducing computational time compared to traditional

hydrodynamic models. The presentation also emphasizes the importance of

interdisciplinary collaboration. The findings presented aim to contribute to the

broader field of environmental studies and provide valuable insights for real-time

decision support in urban coastal flooding scenarios.
