Dear Jefferson Lab collaborators,
<br>
<br>
To help support the travel of students and post-docs engaged
<br>
in Jefferson Lab research projects, Jefferson Science Associates
(JSA)
<br>
has re-approved for 2017 the junior scientists travel fund program.
This JSA
<br>
initiatives fund program,<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://www.jsallc.org/IF/IFIndex.html">http://www.jsallc.org/IF/IFIndex.html</a>,
is aimed at helping
<br>
young researchers present their results at national and
international conferences and
<br>
workshops.
<br>
<br>
Eligible researchers are students (undergraduate and PhD) and
post-doc's who
<br>
are not receiving other JSA Initiatives Fund support (e.g., graduate
<br>
fellowships, JSA research grants), who are not Lab staff members,
and who are actively
<br>
engaged in Jefferson Lab research.
<br>
<br>
To receive a JSA travel grant, students advisors should visit the
web page at
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://www.jsallc.org/IF/IndexJSTF.html">http://www.jsallc.org/IF/IndexJSTF.html</a>,
and complete the required form.
<br>
Requests for matching money (up to $400-500 or $800-1000 for local
<br>
or abroad venues respectively, up to a max of ~$1000 per research
group)
<br>
should then be sent to the Travel Fund Committee chair (Marco
Battaglieri <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated"
href="mailto:battagli@jlab.org">battagli@jlab.org</a>).
<br>
In addition to information about where the young scientists will be
<br>
presenting their results, advisors should provide a clear statement
of the scientific potential of the student, and include a commitment
to pay for balance of the travel costs.
<br>
<br>
The travel fund committee (M.Battaglieri-Chair, D.Dutta, and
<br>
D.Higinbotham) will examine applications and reply to requests in a
timely manner.
<br>
Applications can be submitted anytime. For any questions or further
information send a message to:
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:battagli@jlab.org">battagli@jlab.org</a>.
<br>
<br>
This project is supported by the JSA Initiatives Fund Program
<br>
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.jsallc.org/">http://www.jsallc.org/</a>
IF/IFIndex.html), a commitment from the JSA
<br>
owners, SURA and PAE Applied Technologies. Initiatives Funds support
<br>
programs, initiatives, and activities that further the scientific
<br>
outreach, promote the science, education and technology of the
Jefferson
<br>
Lab and benefit the Lab's extended user community in ways that
<br>
complement the Lab's basic and applied research missions.
<br>
<br>
Sincerely,
<br>
Marco Battaglieri (chair)

Douglas Higinbotham
