[Jlabsoccer] World Cup Picks

I'll still end up picking them for this fantasy world cup like it twas the glory days of 1966. Even though I wasn't born yet, the English come pre-programmed with memories of that epic victory and the national delusion that we should have won every world cup since.

No, Andrew is right. There should have been a 4th tier just England.

Apologies if the tier rankings cause offense. Though I personally think rampant hooliganism should at least be worth a few points regardless. Shows the true World Cup spirit!

I find this listing totally unacceptable. How dare you put England as a "mid tier" team!!!

Everyone knows they don't have a chance at winning anything, will probably go out on penalties against Germany, IF by some miracle they manage to get out of the group stages, and therefore should be bottom tier (at best).

That's if they don't get thrown out for rampant hooliganism before then.

Subject: [Jlabsoccer] World Cup Picks

Good Afternoon Everyone,

It's time for the World Cup, and I figured it'd be fun to add a little more reason to root for different teams. For the last World Cup, a group of friends and I made up a way of wagering on the group stage, and made it interesting by only picking certain teams from different groups. With Kyle's help, we've recreated it for this years world Cup.

Anyway, the way this works is we each get to pick a certain number of teams from each tier. Two from the Top Tier, Three from the Mid Tier, and Three from the Bottom Tier. Depending on how those teams do you are awarded points. 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw. Right now the only games that matter are the group stage games. Below are the different Tiers and numbers from each Tier.

If you are interested, please make your picks and send them to me by the end of the day tomorrow. Pro tip, try to pick teams from different groups, so that you are not playing against yourself. This is just for fun/bragging, so no real worries. If we want to put beers or something on the line then that is also possible. Either way, it makes it interesting to have different teams to cheer for.

Once the picks are in, I'll create the sheet to track the scores and send out updates as the games go on.

Cheers,

Chase
