We had some issues with the GEMs in Hall A when we think some low momentum protons (<1 GeV) are now in our spectra and causing some highly ionizing events where we had to reduce the gain in order to save the chambers… I was thinking that we may be in a similar situation with our proton spectra, but I wanted to see what makes it into our acceptance. I think if we start with a very, very low gain and slowly increase, then we would be fine.

I can take a look at the old simulation to see what we have... Actually would be a useful comparison to whatever Lucas generates.
Can you clarify what you are looking for? Are you talking about the momentum distribution for signal protons, or the rates and energy spectrum for all proton singles?

I don't have this pre-prepared, but I could generate this plot later today.

Hi,
Can someone post a plot with the range of proton momenta that we will pass through our detectors? We’ve had some very ….um I will call it insightful…..experiences in Hall A with protons in the GEMs recently.
Thanks,
Holly
