Hi all,
Based on the optics runs we need, this beam pipe limit is not a problem (for the delta scan/H(e,e’p) and optics/gem positioning). The only requirement for 13.5 deg is the physics setting. We should discuss this at our next meeting to get back to Mark.

Subject: Exit beam pipe during LAD/RSIDIS
Hi,
To reduce the radiation budget and background in the SHMS during RSIDIS, the RSIDIS
experiment is looking into eliminating some kinematics with the HMS at 11 degrees. This way we could
use the medium size beam pipe. The medium size beam pipe limits HMS to 13.5 deg. From my knowledge
of the LAD kinematics this is the smallest HMS angle. But I wanted to check. Let me know if RSIDIS
decides that minimum of 13.5 is ok for them, that it is ok for LAD experiment.
For general info this are the specs for the three exit beam lines.
small line SHMS min @5.5 and HMS min @11.01 , min HMS/SHMS separation angle = 18.50
medium line SHMS min@ 7.5 plus HMS min @13.5 , min HMS/SHMS separation angle=21.0 deg
large beam line SHMS min @10.0 and HMS min @14.5, min HMS/SHMS separation angle = 24.5 deg
Cheers,
Mark
