SLACers,

You guys might not be far enough along to answer yet.  But I need guidance on a few things.  Keep in mind not everything is SLAC-owned.  We have several interfaces that I have to provide control for as well.

Development:
 - Do I need to run as softegr to build edm screens and epics apps?  

Yes

 - Where will the EPICS app tree be?

The apps will be in /usr/local/lcls/epics/iocTop,  and the boot for IOCs will be in /usr/local/lcls/epics/iocCommon

 - Where will the EDM GUI tree be?

/usr/local/lcls/tools/edm/

Operations:

 - How will JLAB staff run edm and ops tools?

Run them as laci account if directly from lclsapp2. I believe you have a better idea on how to run them remotely from OPIs in your control room.  

 - Is softegr account required for them as well?

No, only for software developers.
