The College of Sciences at Old Dominion University is pleased to announce a new science lecture series called the Saturday Morning Science Series. It is free and open to the public and aimed at anyone who has an interest in science. No science background is required. All ages are welcome.
Talks will be held on Saturday mornings at 10:30am on the Old Dominion University campus. Parking is free.
The first talk of the series will be:
* September 24, 2011: 10:30 am: Dr. Desmond Cook (Department of Physics), "Corrosion and Preservation of USS Monitor: Effect of Ocean Submersion on the Wrought Iron Turret"
(Location: Oceanography and Physics Building, Room 200)
The schedule for the remainder of the Fall Series is:
* October 22, 2011: 10:30 am: Dr. Lisa Horth (Department of Biology), "Consider the Ultraviolet: What bees see and why it matters"
* December 10, 2011: 10:30 am: Dr. Victoria Hill (Department of Ocean, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences), "Arctic science: Burning questions in the freezing cold"
