From lsh at jlab.org Thu Jun 12 15:12:53 2025 From: lsh at jlab.org (Laura Hild) Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2025 19:12:53 +0000 Subject: [lqcd-users] 24s, 21g AL/RHEL9.5 to 9.6 Tuesday Message-ID: Happy Thursday, everyone- I regularly patch the QCD 24s cluster on the CST Division's monthly maintenance day, the third Tuesday. Having been updated to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, 21g has joined this scheme. I do not ordinarily announce the patches because they are within a single minor release of the operating system. This time, however, next Tuesday, the 17th, the updates to 24s and 21g will cross a minor release, taking us from AlmaLinux 9.5 to AlmaLinux 9.6, and from RHEL 9.5 to RHEL 9.6, respectively. A summary of changes can be found at https://wiki.almalinux.org/release-notes/9.6.html#changelog and the upstream operating system vendor's compatibility guide can be found at https://access.redhat.com/articles/rhel9-abi-compatibility I do not expect the update to require you to take any action, but it is more likely with the minor-version update than with the regular, "z-stream" patches, so I am forewarning you. Please file a ServiceNow Incident at https://jlab.servicenowservices.com/scicomp with any questions or concerns. Thank you! -Laura
