Dear MOLLER collaborator,

Considering the recent progress we made with respect to DOE, I think it
would be good to start to formalize the detector development for MOLLER.

As a first step, I would like to reinvigorate the the integrating detector
development mailing list:

https://mailman.jlab.org/mailman/listinfo/moller_intdet

The list has been in existence for quite a while, but is not actively used
at the moment. We are at a stage in the development of the Moller experiment
at which we need to address some very specific and technically detailed
issues with regard to the integrating detector system. While many of these
issues obviously need to be discussed in the larger context of the
experiment, some of them are more appropriately discussed among a more
focused group of people; those people I would refer to as detector development
experts.

If you consider yourself an expert in detector development and/or would
like to contribute to the development of the MOLLER integrating detectors,
please consider adding yourself to the following mailing list:

https://mailman.jlab.org/mailman/listinfo/moller_intdet

Anyone otherwise interested in keeping up with the details of the
detector development is, of course, more than welcome to join in as well.

I will shortly start to communicate with interested people via this mailing
list, to try and find a suitable schedule for regular phone meetings.

For the time being, here is a rough (incomplete) list of things
that need to be addressed:

1) Upcoming beam tests in Mainz
2) Honing the main detector design, based on additional simulations (particularly background
    in the detector region)
3) Converging on a workable detector geometry, based on beam test data and simulations
4) Continued discussion on front-end electronics, including PMT bases, etc.
5) Shower max detector design
6) Pion detector design
7) Detector costing

With best regards,

Michael
