Dear MOLLER Collaborator:
I am writing to update you on the MOLLER Director’s review. Some of you may have heard the closeout comments at 12:30 pm yesterday.
Both the committee chair (Doug Beck) and Bob McKeown congratulated us on our presentations and answers to homework questions. Some comments from the closeout: the scientific case remains strong, excellent and noteworthy progress on the technical design, experiment ready for the next step… There will be plenty of recommendations to help us prepare for a DOE CD-1 review, which is the assumption that the committee is making in its deliberations i.e. that CD-0 will be awarded soon. While there are no guarantees, we in the collaboration must continue with the momentum generated to work under these assumptions and look towards preparing for CD-1 next year.
I want to thank everyone who helped us prepare for the review. All talks were outstanding and we were privately commended for our answers to the HW questions and I want to convey my particular thanks to those of you who helped late into the night on Thursday.
I believe we have conveyed our technical feasibility, our enthusiasm and readiness to launch into a DOE project and our willingness to do what it takes to make a potential DOE MIE a success.
I wish everyone Happy Holidays and look forward to a very eventful 2017 for MOLLER.
Cheers,
KK
