[Moller] MOLLER update

Dear MOLLER collaborator:

We are writing to update you on a few recent developments. 

The next Director’s Review has been set for December 15 and 16. Doug Beck has agreed to chair this review. Over the next weeks, we expect to receive information on the Charge and the panel membership of this review. We have begun planning the work required to prepare for this review and will keep you updated on preparations over the next couple of months.

We propose to have the next collaboration meeting at JLab on Fri/Sat November 11/12. We hope to be ready with drafts of the documents required for the review by then and we will take this opportunity to review preparations. 

We have submitted the theory report, as specified in the Science review recommendations, to DOE. A copy of the report is attached at the end of this message. Thanks to Yury Kolomensky for coordinating the writing of the report and thanks for the input of our theory collaborators, Aleks, Jens, Michael and Svetlana. 

Over the last few months, we have continued to make progress on engineering aspects of the spectrometer/collimator system and we have taken a first shot at what the shielding configuration might look like in the Hall. We have also had another successful test beam at Mainz where we tested new prototypes with improved light collection efficiency and also made measurements on scintillation background. We now have sufficient information to quantify both electron signal and photon background and are working on putting all this into our simulations.
