[Moller] [Jlab-scicomp-briefs] Data Analysis batch farm update: mysql -> mariadb on ifarm1402 CANCELLED

All,

The ifarm1402 system is now returning to mysql, rather than mariadb; it is deemed too unwieldy for users to have this difference between ifarm1402 for testing and the rest of the farm.

Possible future JLab farm use of MariaDB will be discussed within the Physics Computing Committee ...

Regards,
Sandy

Subject: Data Analysis batch farm update: mysql -> mariadb on ifarm1402

Dear JLab Users,

We are working to provide MariaDB for the batch farm environment as a standard package with the CentOS 7 systems. This update will impact mysql users.

Today during the IT maintenance period on ifarm1402, one of the two interactive nodes, mysql is being upgraded/replaced by mariadb 5.5.44-2 as provided by Red Hat. For now, ifarm1401 and the rest of the batch systems remain as is.

Please give this new installation on ifarm1402 a try, and report to us any feedback you have on its use. We will consider updating all farm systems during the October maintenance period, after further discussions with the hall computing coordinators.

Regards,
Sandy
