Correction: It is /cache and /volatile for experimental physics that are on the new Lustre hardware; /work remains on NFS file servers. Apologies for the typo.

Maintenance Changes scheduled for Tuesday, February 18th

  * ifarm1401 and ifarm1402 will be retired. These are CentOS 7.2 machines. They are superseded by ifarm1801, ifarm1802, and ifarm1901.

  * Lustre for experimental physics /cache and /volatile will experience a brief interruption in service before 8:00am on Tuesday to perform a failover cycle of the metadata servers. This is being done as part of regular maintenance and to debug an open problem ticket involving reads from certain files.

Recent Changes and Additions

  * The farm upgrade to CentOS 7.7 has completed. A small number of legacy nodes running CentOS 7.2 will remain until they are removed to make space for the next farm upgrade in coming months. If you are running jobs using the centos7 or centos72 tags, please move to centos77 (the default). If you need assistance running under CentOS 7.7, contact us via service now, https://jlab.service-now.com/<https://jlab.service-now.com/nav_to.do?uri=%2Fhome.do>

  * Lustre for experimental physics (/work and /cache) have been moved to all-new hardware with a significant increase in capacity. 3PB are currently available, and 5PB (usable) will be online soon. Allocations for /volatile and /cache will grow accordingly.

  * Support for xrootd, CVMFS, and singularity is available on the CentOS 7.7 farm.

  * https://jupyterhub.jlab.org<https://jupyerhub.jlab.org> is available for Jupyter Lab work using farm compute resources.
