Hello all,

I am sorry if you get this message twice (so much overlap between the
two lists).

I have some sad news:

David Bowman passed away on Saturday. Unfortunately at this point I
don't have much information beyond that.

I am not sure how many of you remember him, but I he was an early
collaborator on QWeak (in fact, that is how I got introduced to the
experiment)
and a pioneer in hadronic parity violation measurements. I consider him
to have been my most important early mentor during my years at LANL and
beyond and I consider him to be the best physicist from whom I have had
the honor of learning many things.

David had a long and prominent career at LANL (California Institute of
Technology graduate) and again for many years at ORNL after that.
He initiated and guided many experiments spanning many areas of neutron
physics and high precision measurements in general.

There is supposed to be a celebration in March next year in Oak Ridge:

Where: Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 809 Oak Ridge Turnpike,
Oak Ridge, TN 37830
When: March 22, 2025 at 2:00 pm

Best regards,

Michael
