class="">The committee orally presented its responses to the
charge questions, comments, and two recommendations early on
Friday afternoon. We attach the answers to the charge
questions. We will send out the full report when we receive it
after internal vetting. Some highlights of the oral closeout in
which the draft comments and recommendations were shared
included:</span><br style="background-color: rgb(255, 255,
255);" class="">
<ul style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">
<li class="">Ed O'Brien's introductory comments indicated that
the committee thinks we are in good shape for CD-1 approval
with some suggestions for improvement. He said that we should
all be very happy and proud with what we have accomplished and
hopefully even more proud about a month from now.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">
<li class="">The response to all eight review charges was "Yes"
with some suggestions and references to comments for some of
the items.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">
<li class="">The committee generated findings and comments for
all four of the Sub-Committee categories, and the comments
were read orally during the closeout. There were two
recommendations: "The Project should proceed to the OPA CD-1
Review" and "Prioritize the completion of the design of the
shielding due to its significant cost risk."</li>
</ul>
<ul style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">
<li class="">Finally, the committee provided a two page list of
suggestions to improve the presentations and documentation in
preparation for the CD-1 review.</li>
</ul>
<p style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">We will
be reviewing the feedback from the committee and will be in
touch soon for help needed in preparation for the September 22 -
24 DOE Independent Project Review.</p>
<p style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">We want
to take this opportunity to give thanks for all the hard work
from the collaboration and project team over many years and the
recent review-directed preparation that have gotten us to this
point. All the presentations were outstanding and the physics
leads and the CAMs effectively demonstrated our work to date and
the team’s overall knowledge of the technical scope and the
status of project planning. </p>
<p style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">We will
continue to rely on your efforts as we look to success in the
next review and in the long run for the project as a whole.</p>
<p style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">Best
regards,</p>
