<div>It was great to see so much progress on our experiment over the past few days. I’m very sorry I wasn’t able to attend in person, but I’m very proud to be a member or this collaboration.</div>

<div>As I pointed out in the IB Update, and as stressed by others, as we move closer to a mode where everyone is coming together to install and commission MOLLER, we need to be sensitive to the fact that we are indeed one collaboration.</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>This is why a number of us worked to draft <a href="https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__moller-2Ddocdb.physics.sunysb.edu_cgi-2Dbin_DocDBTest_private_ShowDocument-3Fdocid-3D1158&d=DwMGaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=k2-3YiXM4PG72x9M5ma_2Q&m=XxcMjeziiv3Y-LF1yCkRG-OLe1JXgjypJkuGRxm4lkPOeuFvCQVbkkur7nj61Vwf&s=loAJvjAH3Kw-UEKC-I_OypVpqR7r_WXAqhX4BIZ49e8&e=">collaboration bylaws</a>. The idea was to agree on, and write down, how we want to proceed when our actions are
impacting the collaboration as a whole.</div>

<div>Publications are obviously one of these actions. So far, these publications are mainly regarding work on specific subsystems, which are covered in the bylaws in Section 6.e.3 "Subsystem instrumentation and other technical papers”. You can read this in
detail for yourself, but basically it says that the authors are to first alert the IB that the paper is being prepared, and then give the draft to the IB to circulate to the collaboration and turn over to a review committee, all with a two-week time limit
to respond.</div>

<div>We haven’t been following this procedure, and that’s fine for now, but we want to pay more attention to this in the future. Examples include a paper we heard about yesterday on <a href="https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__moller-2Ddocdb.physics.sunysb.edu_cgi-2Dbin_DocDBTest_private_ShowDocument-3Fdocid-3D1397&d=DwMGaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=k2-3YiXM4PG72x9M5ma_2Q&m=XxcMjeziiv3Y-LF1yCkRG-OLe1JXgjypJkuGRxm4lkPOeuFvCQVbkkur7nj61Vwf&s=-0qG0cl38U0EcT_fY_vyz4mlmmsf6f4dJS6VR9yi6dU&e=">field

Cherenkov detectors</a> at MAMI. There are likely other examples that I’m not aware of.</div>

<div>So, I’m asking for two things.</div>

<div>First, if you have one of these papers out there, please upload the manuscript to DocDB, and consider alerting the collaboration that you’ve done so. This will make it a lot easier to document our progress, which will be handy for the upcoming ERR’s, as
well as building our own information base.</div>

</div>
<div>Secondly, for future publications, please follow the procedure outlined in the bylaws. The IB will make sure that this process doesn’t impede getting the paper out, and may very well give you helpful feedback.</div>
