Hello everyone,

as you can see, we now have a mailing list for the working group.
There are a couple of organizational things to bring up at this
time related to the government shutdown:

- As things stand right now, JLab is requiring staff to treat
Wednesday, Oct 22, as a holiday and not work unless specifically
approved by management. I doubt our bi-weekly meeting is important
enough to warrant exceptions, so I suggest we skip the meeting
this week. Unless the situation changes, of course.

- There is a real chance of JLab largely shutting down for what
could be weeks, possibly as early as this Friday, Oct 24. There is
a lot of uncertainty about what that means in practice. As much as
I can gather, JLab email will continue to work, but I wouldn't bet
on it. Therefore, it might be a good idea to change your email
address in this (and other) JLab email lists to your home
institution's or personal email, if not already done. We (and
others) might want to set up a temporary mailing list on an
external server anyway; I will look into that.

(I realize the irony of the first post to this fresh new mailing
list suggesting people move away from it. The situation is
certainly unusual.)

In the meantime, if anyone has significant progress to report,
feel free to send an update to this list.

Cheers,

Ole
