The Mott commissioning program ended at 6am today. Over the past ~month we've used about ~dozen shifts to complete this effort. Thanks for everyone's effort!
Highlights include:
* Detector signal calibration, troubleshooting, triggering, timing setup/documented
* DAQ (FADC, TDC, Scalers) functional
* Decoders, analyzer, summary results/plots working
* Controls GUI/Script tested/improved
* New BCM and target motion FSD modes working
* Operation with both 499MHz and 31MHz beam modes successful
* Systematics dry-run (beam intensity, position, spot size, energy) completed
* Polarization in X, Y, Z directions; slow wave-plate reversal, fast Pockels cell reversal all working
* Six shifts of running to collect good statistics on Gold (7 targets), Silver (4 targets), Copper (3 targets)
* Cross-training in EGG and Ops
What's next to do...
1. Mott tunnel work (next 2 weeks)
a) install new dump, with water cooling and temperature read back
b) fix mirror mount to view target ladder better
c) replace worn ladder gear
d) increase pump speed, improve vacuum
2. After that...
a) Some days of sorting/analysis to summarize commissioning run results
b) Revise run time estimates for Au,Ag,Cu; improve extrapolation for Al,C; discuss/order new targets
c) Develop test plan to characterize dump/vacuum improvements
d) Develop punch-list for further improvements/refinements
