Hi Mott Team,
I don't think it takes much convincing that we're on a steady trajectory for completing our Mott studies soon and would all be glad to entertain a goal of submitting results for publication by year's end. I'll be largely "off the grid" until mid-September, so propose we meet next on Sep 23 @ 1:30pm EST.
In the meantime, it would be helpful to develop the following material to succinct documents that should be circulated when ready (mott at jab.org) and/or uploaded to wiki so we can mull over:
1. Charlie – can you circulate your refined outline for the paper, particularly keeping a tally of the drawings, plots, tables, etc.; imagining that if there is a measurement we need for the paper we should try to make it during the October Run II,
2. Dan – can you wrap up the few remaining analysis tasks on your plate; then turn your attention to summarizing in a single document the high level view of the Run I analysis; it's an opportunity to bring closure to work e.g. tables with numerical results, conditions, etc. You've done much of this already, imagine dotting i's, crossing t's and putting results we can use in the future into a technical note,
3. Marcy/Mamun - similarly, can you resolve any open issues, ask any questions and summarize your final FESEM results in a TN,
4. Xavier - we've already discussed some detail, but will be very helpful if you can provide a note describing the work you've done with some explanation esp. for the non-theorists, the present status of your calculations and open issues. The idea is to make your assessment of the theory and uncertainties, e.g. text can be very similar for contribution to publication.
5. Marty - after last meeting, seems you are really on good track and hope your method for the double-scattering analyzing power pays off; we'll be eager to learn of your status
6. Riad/Dan - can you spend some time to detail the scaler analysis, make sure it is done precisely, calculate uncertainties and so forth - useful for Run II,
7. If I miss something, please add...
At our next meeting, we should organize whatever Mott Run II will be; Plan A is ~3 days aiming to repeat target thickness at KE=5.0 and measure energy sensitivity. The exact plan will depend upon consensus, and include measurements we think we’ll need for the paper. If you want to participate in Run II and haven't already please send your (un)availability from Oct. 3-24.
Happy writing!
Joe
