Dear All,
I have spent far more time than sensible in re-writing part of the
Introduction (and made a few changes in the abstract). I have tried to
incorporate the many suggested changes I received from several of you,
using the criteria for changes that I sent out a while back. One item I
struggled with was the discussion of low energy Mott that I have put in
the original introduction. It added length, but in the end I couldn't
connect it to our work in a way I felt meaningful. And a couple of the
criticisms I received of the earlier version was that the intro was too
long. So - I have shortened it, eliminating much I believed to be
irrelevant. At this point, I'd like to limit future comments to those
that point our errors, lack of clarity, etc., rather than someone's
preferred change of wording. Please don't worry greatly about the
references. Tim pointed out a number of small errors in the original
version, and I believe I have corrected all of these. At this point,
I'm trying to just keep the references straight so that the final
version will be easier to assemble in PRC's format. I'm aware that PRC
does not use titles of papers in their publications. The inclusion of
these titles is for my reference only - they will be easily eliminated
in the final version. Note that a number of the references will seem
irrelevant to the abstract and introduction - they were put in because
there were part of the longer text I originally sent around, and am only
now trying to finish off. With a little luck, I should have some more
material in a near-finished form before very long.
Mary and I are going to come to VA to see old friends who will likely
never visit us in Oregon. We expect to get to Richmond on Saturday,
April 29th, and will leave for DC on Friday May 5th. I do plan on
getting to JLab for at least most of a day, and perhaps this would be a
good time for us (at least those at JLab) to meet and resolve issues
about the writing. I presently am a little skeptical that the "final"
paper will be available by that time, but who knows??? We should be
close - perhaps close enough that we can at least schedule the "final"
meeting about the paper, and start the process (hopefully short) of
turning it into PRC format.
Best,
Charlie
