I just uploaded the requested corrections to the APS website. Many thanks to Daniel, Danny, Marcy, Scott and Riad for modifying those 14 figures so rapidly. Whereas some figures were just cut/pasted in Word before, we now have a unique file corresponding
to each figure for posterity. Finally, thanks to Kurt Aulenbacher, who gave us permission to produce our version of his Figure 2.

And thanks to Charlie who noticed, quite immediately I'd say, that our abstract was 'muffed' on the APS website. That's now addressed too:

Response to editor/referee:
We have updated these 14 figures per the editor's request: 2,3,4,5,9-13,18-22.

Those new figures plus an updated version of manuscript including those figures are attached.

We contacted the editor about reproducing Figure 2 from another publication. An important theoretical argument we are making is well supported by this figure already published in Rev. Sci. Instr. We make it very clear in the text and caption that we are
reproducing this figure, and we provide reference to the original publication. Finally, we contacted one of the primary authors asking for permission to reproduce their figure and by the PRC style standards. He agreed, please find attached screen grab of
the e-mail exchange with K. Aulenbacher (Mainz University); his e-mail is shown as well.
