*United Way Day of Caring will 'Rock the Block'; Volunteer Sign up 
Deadline is Monday, Aug. 22;
More JLab Volunteers Needed*

The 2011 annual United Way Day of Caring will be Friday, Sept. 9. 
Volunteers will provide much needed help for senior citizens in multiple 
communities to remain safe and secure in their homes. No prior 
experience is required to help with the various projects or activities.

Volunteers are asked to fill out the 2011 United Way Day of Caring 
volunteer participation form and send or deliver it to Joshua Cameron 
(Mail Stop MS 12B, CEBAF Center room B214) by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22.

Before turning in the form, _volunteers must have their supervisor's 
signature (in any open area) on the volunteer form_. The volunteer form 
is attached to this email.

Participants will receive a "Rock the Block" T-shirt. For more

United Way School Tools Drive Ends Thursday, Aug. 25; Get School 
Supplies Donations in Soon*

The United Way School Tools Drive ends Thursday, Aug. 25. This annual 
community outreach program assists disadvantaged students in Hampton 
Roads public school systems as they prepare to return to school. 
Collection boxes for donations of school supplies are in the VARC, MCC, 
CEBAF Center and ARC lobbies. New school supplies for students of any 
grade level may be placed in the boxes and will be collected at 
close-of-business Thursday, Aug. 25.

Appropriate items include pens, pencils, student scissors, crayons, 
spiral notebooks, 3-ring binders, binder paper, pocket folders, rulers, 
protractor/compass sets, etc. The United Way will collect and disburse 
the materials to area schools. For more information, contact Joshua 
Cameron, Human Resources, ext. 7628.
