A section of CEBAF Blvd. – the two-lane road running through the middle
of the Accelerator Site – likely will be closed Monday and possibly into
Tuesday, March 19-20, for the delivery and installation of the second of
two, large Cold Box assemblies at the Central Helium Liquefier (CHL),
Building 8.
The section of CEBAF Blvd. and the adjacent sidewalk – from about the
southeast corner of Building 87 to about the front door of Building 89 –
will be closed.
During this time, traffic will be directed with cones and/or signs to
the one-way Accelerator ring road – also known as Bohr Blvd. North
(paralleling the North Linac) and Bohr Blvd. South (paralleling the
South Linac).
Pedestrians wishing to pass through that area will need to walk along
the ring road or along the north side of Buildings 87 and 89.
The area in front of the CHL will be considered a construction zone.
Access to the area will be restricted to authorized personnel and will
require specified personal protective equipment.
Individuals needing more information may contact Bill Hunewill or Scott
Thompson, Engineering Division. The road section will reopen as soon as
the work is completed.
The Cold Box should arrive at the lab sometime today, and will be kept
on the tractor trailer until Monday morning. Expect heavier than normal
large-vehicle traffic on the Accelerator Site March 16-20, especially on
CEBAF Blvd. as the delivery tractor trailer and heavy duty lifting
cranes move in and out of the area and while being positioned.
This is part of the upgrade to the CHL for the 12 GeV Upgrade project.
