A section of CEBAF Blvd. – the two-lane road through the middle of
the Accelerator Site – will be closed Tuesday through Thursday, Dec.
6-8, for the delivery and installation of large compressor units to
CEBAF's Central Helium Liquefier (CHL), Building 8. The section of
road and sidewalk – from about the southwest corner of Building 87
to about the front door of Building 89 will be closed.

During this time, traffic will be directed with cones and/or signage
to the one-way Accelerator ring road – also known as Bohr Blvd.
North (over the North Linac) and Bohr Blvd. South (over the South
Linac). Pedestrians wishing to pass through that area will need to
walk along the ring road or along the north side of Buildings 87 and
89.

Use caution while driving or walking on the Accelerator Site during
this time as the Accelerator ring road will experience a higher
volume of traffic than normal, and visibility can be impaired by
large vehicles, buildings and reduced daylight hours. Also, keep in
mind that the road over the northeast section of the East Arc
remains closed for Hall D Complex construction work.

While the area in front of the CHL is closed it will be considered a
construction zone. Access to the area will be restricted to
authorized personnel and require wearing specified personal
protective equipment.

Be advised that this situation will be repeated immediately after
the holiday shutdown, Jan. 3-5, 2012, when additional oversized CHL
equipment arrives.

This work is a critical part of the CHL upgrade, which is part of
the 12 GeV Upgrade project.
