Ok - we are ready for Tuesday. Contact me when you are ready to go and I'll ask Sherman to make the switchover at that time.

Bobby,

I think we are ready to go. We still have a few issues with our Export to Excel/PDF but they are not game stoppers.
We were working with David Sheppard and have decided to wait on the upgrade to 18c until our new database machine comes in.
Can we make the changeover Tuesday May 26th around Noon or later?
That will give us time to inform users of the upgrade.
Thanks!

Valerie - have you guys made any more progress on preparing for the production upgrade? It would be nice to get pansophy on the latest software sometime soon...

Bobby,

Most of our testing is complete except for our DataMine system. Having problems with the use of (+) in sql queries. Also, when we changed to pansophydev we started getting the following error. It doesn't seem to find our components. We did not do any mappings on our local servers so I'm not sure what I am missing on the development server. Any ideas? As soon as we get these fixed we can proceed with the production server upgrade. Thank You for checking.

As long as it's ok to do the production server turnover without this incident?

Bobby,

Yes, you can shutdown the old development server. Thank You for your help. We will let you know when we are ready to do production.

Cool. Are we safe to officially turn off the old pansophydev?

As for upgrading Oracle, I will defer to David Sheppard. He should be in contact with you in the next few days...

Bobby & Sherman,

Thank you. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

We did get the development server up and running the new code.

A few errors we are still working on and I will keep you informed of our progress.

We hope to turn on the production server by the end of the week.

What will it take to upgrade the Oracle? Please advise.

Valerie

Ok - Sherman has made the switchover. The "pansophydev.jlab.org" name should now be pointing to the new CF2018 server. Again - you may have to flush your DNS cache to pick up the change.

Please let me know if everything is ok so we can shut down the old pansophydev server

Bobby,

with all the work I thought maybe a clean reboot would just ensure we are at point-0 for testing.

Sorry - just now seeing this. I will ask Sherman to begin the process. Do you want the entire pansophydev-2018 server rebooted or just ColdFusion restarted?

Bobby,

Can the change for the development server be done starting at 11am-ish?

Just let us know when it is done.

Also, can the CF2018 server be rebooted at that time as well?

Valerie

Bobby,

We have a P-Team meeting at 10am. Afterwards we can make the switch for development.

As for the datasources, we currently have duplicates because we are working towards elimnating the 11G, but we have not yet rebooted the production server to remove it's dependence on them. When we switch to the new server we will have the Application.cfc updated for the non-11G versions and can then remove those datasource names.

I think upgrading our Oracle on the development server would be good. That way we can test it along with our new SQL statements that have been giving us a problem in the new CF2018. lol But will confirm with the team.

I will get back to you as soon as we are done with our meeting.

Thank You.

Valerie

I (we) are ready to make this change whenever you want. I've also got a new production server ready to go. All that currently needs to be done (on either dev or production) is to shut down the server and add an alias for its existing name that points to the new server. Once the alias is in place, you will likely have to flush your DNS cache to pick it up immediately, otherwise the change should happen whenever you OS normally flushes it cache.
Also - a couple other questions....

1) David was wondering about an Oracle upgrade. We upgraded our dev instances to Oracle 18c last week and he was wondering if you wanted to do the same with your dev instances.

2) I noticed on pansophy that there are a number of what look like "duplicate" datasources listed. We have an "11G" version of each datasource (live and tst) that point to the exact same database as the non-11G version. Are those still necessary?

Good Morning Bobby,

Just checking in to see where we are at for starting to switch the development server?

We have a couple errors to still work through, but can do those with the development change. We would like to wait a couple days before pushing to production.

Thank you for your support! We really appreciate this.
