[Pansophy] Need machines for Students (where are the student machines?)

Anne et al,

I started an incident report with Erik Werlau to get computers for new people.
The VPN will not work for those who need to program (utilize Adobe and Oracle software).
Megan’s computer will be upgraded and her old computer will be reformatted for Allen (Doc Coord) to use.
But that leaves me with 3 students that need computer to remote desktop into…
Erik refers to some student machines…
Do we know where these are? Anyone using them at this time? Can we use for these student?
Please let me know how you would like me to proceed.

Allen would need to tunnel and remote desktop in to the machine he would be working on. This would be Megan's old system after it is rebuilt.

For the students. If they are using personal machines, the VPN will get them about as much access as if they were on the Guest network at JLAB. They will need some JLAB system to remote to. SRF has a few student machines. One is out of date and at least 1 or 2 are being used by staff. These are srfstudent2,3,4,5 and 7. They are old machines and may have very limited performance.

As for access to fasthelp etc. I'm not familiar with the configuration of these systems. I imagine they might be controlled by group memberships or whoever maintains the backend of the system.

Just a heads up… We finally hired our new Document Coordinator and he will be arriving on the 16th.
We talked a while back about Megan's computer needed upgraded soon.
Can we upgrade Megan's computer and turn her old computer into a temporary one for the new guy? (separate incident report coming)
BTW… it will be Allen Samuels.

Also I have just some general questions…

The new guy (Allen): I don't yet know what home computer he will have. He will be working remote doing the same things as Megan. So, I'm guessing he will have to RD into a computer to get access to our Coldfusion and Oracle software (hence the need for another computer).

Also, I have 2 college students coming onboard the 8th and a High School student starting the 21st.
The college students are brought on through the education department but they will be coding on Pansophy and Oracle. So will they also need a RD computer to bounce off of?
The HS Student will be using his own computer and most likely VPNing in. He will be our communications person updated training slides, webpages and our FastHelp system. I will need to get him access to FastHelp and I'm not sure how to go about that.

Need help setting up computers and software…
