Ed,

Megan still hasn't received a reply from RI on the discrepancies in the spreadsheets. She has been waiting to complete the macros until she receives confirmation. Do you know the status? (Seeing how we already received a cavity)
Thanks

Valerie

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Weekly update

This week the DOE Independent Cost Estimate team debriefed the project team on their cost and schedule analysis of PPU. Their cost estimate before contingency was quite close to the project estimate, but the ICE team cost and schedule contingency estimates were lower. We also learned that the ESAAB meeting for PPU CD-2/3 approval is scheduled for Oct. 6, 2020. Regarding the project actions for ESAAB, all the pre-ESAAB CD-2/3 project review recommendations have been closed.

This week the first superconducting RF cavity shipped from the vendor in Germany arrived at our partner lab JLab. This is an important step forward, and we expect enough cavities for the first cryomodule fabrication to be shipped this month. The cavity string mockup for cryomodule assembly verification is being prepared at JLab, with field flatness measurements and cavity vessel welding. In the RF area equipment is arriving to support future technical equipment installation in the klystron gallery and the RF team is working with the conventional facility team on klystron gallery buildout to coordinate their needs. Also, preparations are ongoing for the LLRF and new warm linac high voltage modulator final design reviews in September. In the ring area, a beam measurement in the operating facility was made with the recently installed measurement system for the beam power limiting system, with a clean output signal. In the target area the off-gas treatment system upgrade design has reached ~80% complete, and initial gas injection tests were performed in the mercury flow test facility with the new PPU/TTF target installed. Initial bubble observations at various locations throughout the new target from the swirl bubbler generation do not indicate any surprises. The klystron gallery buildout continues to progress: the siding installation on the pump room buildout is now complete, the north gallery interior wall was painted, a fire barrier wall construction was started, and piping equipment is being fabricated at shops based on the 3-D BIM model.

Thanks to all and please stay safe - jg
